SweepWatch

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 25, 2026

The short version. SweepWatch stores your email, your car's parking locations, and the Bluetooth identifier of your car so we can warn you before street sweeping. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and you can permanently delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.

Who we are

SweepWatch is an iOS app that helps drivers in San Francisco avoid street-sweeping tickets by detecting where they park and sending alerts before scheduled sweeps. This policy describes what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the SweepWatch iOS app and this website.

What we collect

DataWhy we collect it
Email address Creating and signing in to your account.
Display name Identifying you in the app, including to other members of your household if you share cars with them. Optional.
Location (parking fixes) The core of the product. When the app detects that you've parked — or when you set or correct a parking location manually — we store that coordinate to match it against San Francisco's street-sweeping schedule and send you alerts. We store parking locations, not a continuous trail of your movement.
Car Bluetooth identifier The name and identifier of your car's Bluetooth or CarPlay connection, so the app knows which car you drive and which disconnect means "you just parked."
Push notification tokens Delivering sweep alerts and Live Activity updates to your device through Apple's push notification service.
Car and place details you add Car names, pin colors, and saved places you create, so the app can display them back to you (and to your household, where you've shared a car).
Subscription status Whether you have an active SweepWatch Pro subscription, so we can unlock Pro features. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card number or billing details.
Diagnostics Server error logs, so we can find and fix problems. When a request to our servers fails, we record technical details of the failure with personal details removed. The app itself does not include crash-reporting software. These logs are not used for advertising or profiling.

Street-sweeping schedules themselves come from San Francisco's published public data and contain no personal information.

What we don't do

Household sharing

If you join a household with other SweepWatch users, information about shared cars — including where they're parked and upcoming sweep alerts — is visible to other members of that household. Your display name is visible to household members. Cars you keep private stay private.

Service providers

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run SweepWatch. Each processes data only on our behalf and only to provide the service:

ProviderWhat they do for us
SupabaseAccount authentication and database hosting.
RailwayHosting our backend servers.
ApplePush notification delivery and subscription billing.
MapboxMap display and address lookup. Map tiles are loaded from Mapbox when you view the map, which involves your device's IP address, as with any web request.
NetlifyHosting this website.
Google Cloud Text-to-SpeechSpoken parking announcements are generated by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech from the street name and sweep time; no location coordinates or account details are sent.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account inside the app. Deletion removes your account, profile, cars and their current parked locations, saved places, Bluetooth pairings, notification queue, and push tokens from our systems. This is immediate and irreversible.

You can also sign out at any time, which removes the session from your device without deleting your data.

Your rights

You can access most of your data directly in the app, correct it (for example, by editing your name or fixing a parking pin), and delete all of it as described above. If you're a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we hold about you and the right to deletion — both of which the app supports directly. We don't sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. For anything the app itself doesn't cover, contact us using the details below.

Children

SweepWatch is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and we follow the principle of collecting only what the product needs. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your data seriously.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
